Jacobs Machinist B in Las Cruces, New Mexico
This is aNASA Test Evaluation and Support Team Contract (TEST2) position and may beassigned to Jacobs Technology or a teammate company.Must be able to performmachinist tasks to include, but not limited to, read basic shopdrawings/blueprints and to be able to development sketches from supplied partsif necessary. Must be capable of performing basic layout work and partialequipment set-ups under the limited supervision of more senior shop personnelor management. Must demonstrate the ability to safely operate saws, lathes,mills, drill presses, and bench grinders and perform this work withintolerances of /- .003 of an inch consistently. Performs work and maintainswork area in a neat, orderly, and safe manner. Must be able to display andexecute a Safety First stance with yourself and your coworkers. Must be able towork individually or as a member of a team to accomplish assigned tasks. Mustwear appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) as directed andimmediately communicate all safety concerns with management. Must be able toperform duties consistent with the classification under the supervision (orinstruction) of senior shop personnel as assigned by management. Must be ableand willing to provide technical guidance to lower level positions. Must beable to coordinate with management resource and material needs. Perform relatedduties as required.
Mustmeet all the requirements for Machinist C (Job Code 4849) and have three (3)additional years of experience for a total of 5 years of machine shop orapplicable trade school experience or a combination of both.
Must pass machine part qualification test for Machinist B prior to hire or promotion.
Mustpossess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
Must meetand maintain all certification requirements for this position as specified inthe White Sands Training Database or as directed by management.
Mustpass a physical examination if required by the White Sands Test Facility (WSTF)or Jacobs Engineering.
Physical Requirements: Position may involve extended periods ofsitting or standing. Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing,extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures. Typically required to lift and hold up to 30pounds. Position is located on ahazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in theevent of an emergency.
Work Environment: Desk/office work approximately 40% of the time and fieldwork the remaining time. Will be required to work inside and outside throughoutthe test complex. Position requiresindividual to travel to different areas on site. Walking on uneven terrain including pavedareas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations onthe facility. All work must be completedin a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
Equipment and Machines: Computer work required. Strong knowledge of Microsoft programs suchas Word, and Excel is required. Use ofcalculator, printer, fax, scanner, telephone, filing cabinets, and otherstandard office equipment is required. Operation of a government motor vehicle may berequired.
Attendance: Regular attendance and punctuality as scheduled isrequired. Occasional overtime may berequired in support priority assignments as determined by management orcustomer needs. Personnel in the branch arecross-trained to allow for normal planned vacation and sick leave.

Must be able to communicate effectively withindividuals at all levels of the organization.Mustexhibit professional behavior in all interaction peers/management and withcustomers.Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Strongwritten and oral communications skills are needed. Must be able to pass aphysical examination as determined by the JWSG physical examinationrequirements for the job classification.Pre-employment drug screening is required.Must possess and maintain a valid driver’slicense.Must pass Federal backgroundinvestigation and maintain access to government facilities and computersystems.
