Purpose of Position:

This position will provide intake, interviewing, education, screening, assessment, counseling, therapy, treatment, referrals, and support to priority patients with behavioral health needs for the Community Wellness Program (CWP) and other Southwest Region programs and clinics.

This position is a Pay Band 90.


Classification Description

Certified Nurse Practitioner

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in a defined certified nursing specialty such as pharmacology, physical assessment, diagnosis, nurse practitioner skills, and advanced nursing physiology and pathophysiology.

Employment Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a current license as Certified Nurse Practitioner in New Mexico. Successful completion of a formal program designed for Education and Preparation of Nurse Practitioners. Nurse Practitioners, who were initially licensed by the Board prior to January 1, 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a Nurse Practitioner Program and are currently licensed are encouraged to apply. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Position requires successful completion of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act), as well as successful completion of CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvements Act) within sixty (60) days of employment. Position will require successful completion of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), within thirty (30) days of employment, as condition of continued employment. Blood-borne pathogen training will also need to be completed within thirty (30) days of employment.

Statutory Requirements:

Must be a Certified Nurse Practitioner in accordance with section 63-3-23.2 of the New Mexico Nursing Practice Act, 61-3-1 NMSA 1978.

Working Conditions:

Services are provided in a clinic, auxiliary and community sites with potential exposure to communicable diseases with computer usage for a variety of clinic and office functions. Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage with extended periods of office noise, bending, standing and lifting. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Services are provided in a clinic with diverse racial and ethnic population, many who do not speak the English language. May be required to work evening and/or weekend hours at various Public Health Offices.
